This article on the BBC News website about how doctors are too quick to prescribe medication for depression when other forms of treatment are more effective echos my experience with clients. I high percentage of the clients I see have been prescribed medication but a) are not happy to be on it and are worried about becoming reliant on it and b) still do not feel much better. The same applies to sleeping pills. In my experience insomnia can often be treated by learning to relax and quiet the mind before going to sleep as well as helping the mind let go anxiety that builds up over time (often years).
