Held prisoner by my thinking

I have recently been feeling quite stuck with a particular situation in my life.  It has tapped in to some of my fears and it seemed that every corner I turned looking for progress and a way out it seemed like a dead end.  I was reminded of an old computer screensaver that used to be around many years ago.  It was a fast moving 3D maze and when I looked at it I felt rather claustrophobic.  In my current maze I felt trapped, scared and worn out.

Each turn I took I came to another dead end.  When would it end?  How would I get out? Each corner gave me a glimmer of hope that there was a way out, or even an indication that I was going in the right direction only to be met with another dead end.  This can lead to me feeling quite demoralised and panicking that I will never get out of this maze until I stopped and realised the walls were my own creation.

I had let my thoughts get out of control.  I had momentarily forgotten that our thoughts create this illusion of reality and deceive us to believe they are a result of this ‘reality’, not the creator of it.  It had been my own thoughts of ‘should’, ‘musts’, ‘can’ts’ that had created the walls.  As I let my thoughts go, like a glitter ball settling (thanks Jamie Smart for that analogy), I gain something we all have inside us, something people travel all over the world seeking…inner peace and wisdom.  I could regain access to my inner peace and a wisdom that reminded me of that face that I have all I need in the hear and now.  I am OK.  I had a sense of being lifted up out of maze, but it was the walls dissolving that gave that impression.  As my thinking stopped, the walls dissolved.

So, have I found my way out and the answer to my situation?  Not yet.  But I am at peace with the situation and have confidence the answer will come at the right time, letting go of my expectations and ego, remaining in touch with my inner peace and wisdom.

You may be aware of situation(s) in your life where you can benefit from letting go of your thinking… and tapping in to your inner wisdom and peace.  I challenge you to let go of your thinking, the stories you are telling yourself and ask your inner wisdom for the answer.   It will come when the time is right.  Wisdom lives beyond our understanding of time.
