Ron Hickman the inventor of the Black & Decker Workmate died today. Every company turned his invention down including Stanley tools who said it would only sell dozens. He re-mortaged his house and set up his own company because he believed in himself and his idea. The rest is history. They sold so well Black and Decker licensed the design. He got £1 for every one they sold (70 million!).
