Break free from your prison

Do you feel like a prisoner?  Overwhelmed by your thinking?

Are you in a prison of fear?  Or ‘not being good enough’?  Or perhaps you are on the ‘living to meet other peoples expectations’ prison wing.

The prison walls and guards prevent you living the life you want. They stop you being free to be who you want to be, fulfilled and with peace of mind.

That feeling of being trapped, not being able to move on or stuck is actually your thinking you are experiencing.  You are only ever feeling your thinking.

We are held prisoner by our thinking – the prison guards keeping us locked up in this experience, the prison walls that prevent us from seeing or experiencing something different.


It is true we don’t have control over what thoughts we have.  But we do have control over whether we give them life, whether we chose to entertain them or believe them.

In London there are many Yo Sushi! bars.  If you are not familiar with them you sit at a counter with a conveyor belt.  On the conveyor belt pass by different sushi dishes.  As they pass by you take the ones you want.  At the end of your meal they count up the number of empty dishes and know what to charge you.  And no need to tip the conveyor belt!

Our mind is a bit like that sushi conveyor belt.  We don’t have control over what dishes/thoughts come to us, however do have control over whether to take them on board.

If we don’t entertain a thought it passes on out of our awareness without us doing anything.

That is the natural nature of thought.

We all get crazy thoughts coming to mind but they are gone and forgotten about as quickly as they come in. We don’t judge ourselves for having them or dwell on them, they are gone like clouds in a breeze or the sushi dish on the conveyor belt we didn’t want.

This is then we access our inner wisdom, our instinct, intuition that was drowned out by the noise of thought.  That is a much better guidance mechanism for life.

We think we need our thinking however the truth is we are bar better off without it.

If we start entertaining our thoughts it can lead to more and more thinking.  Over thinking.  The paralysis or analysis.  You can analyse yourself or a situation forever and never reach the end and fail to find peace of mind.

A client of mine couldn’t make a decision.  It was a big decision.  When she began to understand this psychology of the mind she was transformed.  She noticed when she stopped analysing decisions answers came effortlessly and sometimes at the most surprising of moments.   Once she went away for the weekend.  Whilst sitting enjoying the view having a beer on a summers evening she suddenly got the answer she was looking for to her problem.  And she wasn’t even thinking about it.

It was so obvious she couldn’t believe she hadn’t thought of it before.  But that’s just it, thinking clouds our mind, stops us seeing all the options and prevents creativity.  You get the best answers and most creative solutions when you are not thinking, perhaps walking the dog or in the shower.

When we let go of our thinking we access innate wellbeing.

Peace of mind.

You have the key to let yourself out of the prison, the key is trusting your inner wisdom, your instinct and intuition and let go of the thinking that has been holding you there up to now.
